Oration to the Salvadoran Flag

Dios te salve, Patria Sagrada,
en tu seno hemos nacido y amado; eres el aire que respiramos, la tierra que nos sustenta, la familia que amamos, la libertad que nos defiende, la religión que nos consuela.

Tú tienes nuestros hogares queridos, fértiles campiñas, ríos majestuosos, soberbios volcanes, apacibles lagos, cielos de púrpura y oro.

En tus campos ondulan doradas espigas, en tus talleres vibran los motores, chisporrotean los yunques, surgen las bellezas del arte.

Patria, en tu lengua armoniosa pedimos a la Providencia que te ampare, que abra nuestra alma al resplandor del cielo, grabe en ella dulce afecto al Maestro y a la Escuela y nos infunda tu santo amor.

Patria, tu historia, blasón de héroes y mártires, reseña virtudes y anhelos; tú reverencias el Acta que consagró la soberanía nacional y marcas la senda florida en que la Justicia y la Libertad nos llevan hacia Dios.

¡Bandera de la Patria, símbolo sagrado de El Salvador, te saludan reverentes las nuevas generaciones!

Para ti, el sol vivificante de nuestras glorias, los himnos del patriotismo, los laureles de los héroes.

Para ti, el respeto de los pueblos y la corona de amor que hoy ceñimos a tus inmortales sienes.

No desmaya en su innata bravura, En cada hombre hay un héroe inmortal Que sabrá mantenerse a la altura De su antiguo valor proverbial.

TERCERA ESTROFA
Todos son abnegados y fieles Al prestigio del bélico ardor Con que siempre segaron laureles De la patria salvando el honor.
Respetar los derechos extraños Y apoyarse en la recta razón Es para ella, sin torpes amaños Su invariable, mas firme ambición.
Y en seguir esta línea se aferra Dedicando su esfuerzo tenaz, En hacer cruda guerra a la guerra;

Su ventura se encuentra en la paz.

       

The 20 of February of 1822, the Salvadoran town attended the ceremony of the swear and blessing of the flag that ordered to General Manuel Jose Arce, with the intention of lifting the fighting spirit of the Salvadoran soldiers when faced Iturbide, arranging then to use the colors blue and white. By legislative decree it was adopted the 17 of May of 1912, during the administration of Doctor Manuel Enrique Araujo. The colors of the Flag of El Salvador are blue that symbolizes the Salvadoran sky and the white that represents the yearning of peace and concord.

Adopted officially the 15 of September of 1912 was designed by Rafael Barraza. Their elements are: the triangle equilateral symbolizes of equality of alls the Salvadoran before the law; the angles, the three powers of the government; the volcanoes, the geographic configuration of the country and the five Central American nations. The rainbow symbolizes the peace and the cap Phrygian the freedom. The luminous rays represent the ideals of the town; the branches of laurel, the glory; the fourteen branches, to the fourteen departments in which the country is divided; and the flags to the five Central American nations.

   
   

By agreement of the 26 of June of 1939 were designated like national trees to the Balsam and to the Maquilishuat, his scientific name ( Tabebuia Rosea ), being this last the one that obtained greater root in the popular soul. It measures up to 49.21 feet of height. Their great and splendid flowers of pink color, offer different degrees from intensity in its coloration. When the Maquilishuat blooms is one of most beautiful of the region. Its wood one of finest of Central America , enough is appreciated in cabinet work, by its light weight and its yellow color amber with veins purple. Its crust has medicinal properties. The Maquilishuat is an abundant tree in all Central America .

The Flower of Izote is very special, since she is original of the region, to which belong the Central American countries. This flower is appertaining to the family of the Liliáceos . These understand many sorts and species. In addition, the Flower of Izote is very useful since is eatable and serves to make textiles and are possible to be used of ornamental way.

 

The Torogoz a bird of singular beauty, by his multicolor plumage, his not adaptability to the captivity and symbol of the familiar unit, by the participation in pair in the care of its chicks, is to declare it like “National Bird of El Salvador”.
